Hierarchical cultures operating in our society will almost always ultimately fail or routinely encounter high employee turnover. Each member of the team needs to, or should have the opportunity to, have a voice and contribute or influence its SME team’s success.
Conversely, each SME ‘cell’ is a tight-knit egalitarian team. Cells divide as existing resources are stretched and by multiplying and nurturing, growth is sustained!
The SME system can be replicated infinitely so there is no traditional hierarchical structure. It is important that each group of cells has no more than 8 members. If so, the cell divides to create another… It’s how life works!
